More Ways we can Help

All Excavation Services

Ballard’s Acres & Excavating is a family-run operation that provides residential, commercial, and agricultural excavating services across Northeast Ohio.

Services include site preparation, basement excavation, building pads, pond excavation, drainage, driveways, land clearing, and yard restoration.

Basement Excavation & Basement Wall Reseal

We dig basements for new construction to depth, with the slope and clearance the foundation crew needs to work.

For older homes with wet basements, we handle exterior wall resealing: excavating around the foundation, cleaning the wall, applying a proper waterproof membrane, and installing drain tile to actually stop water from getting in.

Building Pads & Footers

For pole barns, garages, sheds, and any structure that needs a flat, compacted, properly drained base, we cut and build the pad.

Geotextile fabric where it’s needed, a base layer of #304 limestone, proper compaction, and crowning so water sheds correctly. We also dig footers for concrete crews to depth and to spec.

Pond Excavation

Farm ponds, irrigation ponds, fishing ponds, decorative water features: we excavate them. That means siting them where the soil will hold water, digging to the right depth and slope, building the dam properly, and grading the surroundings so runoff feeds the pond instead of washing it out.
The grain farm background helps here. We know which Ohio spots will hold water and which ones won’t before we start digging.

Yard Restoration After Utility Work

When a fiber install, gas line, or water line repair tears up your yard, we put it back together: rake and till to just below grade, spread fresh topsoil, seed with the right grass for the conditions, and lay straw to hold it in.
This crew runs March through November, following utility-boring routes from Massillon to the Ohio River. Available to utility contractors as a restoration partner, and to homeowners directly.

Agricultural Tile Repair

Drainage tile on farmland fails. When it does, the field stops draining and the problem gets worse over time. We locate the failed tile, dig it up, replace the broken sections, and reset the run so water moves correctly.
Most general excavators don’t take this work on. We farm the same kind of ground you do.

Our Services

Who We Serve

Homeowners

Most of our residential work comes from people who’ve been quoted by two or three other contractors and either never heard back or got a number with no explanation behind it. We’ll come walk the property, tell you what the job actually involves, and give you a straight estimate.

Builders & Contractors

Build schedules are tight, and the excavation work sets the pace for everything that comes after. When a footer isn’t dug right, when a pad isn’t graded clean, or if the dig crew shows up two days late, every trade after them pays for it. We work to spec, coordinate with inspectors and engineers, and make everyone else’s job easier.

Farms & Rural Properties

Working ground has its own set of problems that residential excavators don’t see often: failed tile lines, washed-out lanes, ponds that won’t hold, fields that won’t drain after a wet spring.

We work the same kind of ground you do, so we recognize the problems and know how to fix unique issues.

Utility & Boring Contractors

Your crew’s job is the install. We handle the restoration end on a regular schedule across the region, so your crew stays on the install work and the homeowner gets a yard that actually grows back.

Common Excavation Questions

It depends on what you’re digging, what equipment is needed, and how the site is laid out. We pride ourselves in good quality work for a fair price. Fill out the form below and we’ll come look at the job to give you a real number.

Yes — homeowners, builders, farms, commercial properties, and utility contractors. We’ve done $400 drainage fixes and $40,000 site preps. If it’s in our wheelhouse and inside our service area, we’ll take a look at it.

Most residential site prep jobs run 2-5 days on site, plus weather and inspection windows. Commercial pads and larger sites take longer. The honest answer: we’ll give you a real timeline after we walk the property, not before.

Yes — it’s one of the things we do most. We run a dedicated yard restoration crew from March through November, following utility-boring routes from Massillon down to the Ohio River. Whether you’re a utility contractor needing a restoration partner or a homeowner whose yard got destroyed, give us a call.
