About Us
A Carroll County Excavating Company Built on Family Roots
Ballard’s Acres & Excavating is a working grain farm that grew into a full-service excavating outfit. Same family, same land, same standard, whether we’re moving dirt for you or for ourselves.
Meet “B”
When you call Ballard’s, you’re not calling a dispatcher. You’re calling Kenny “B” Jenkins. Owner, operator, and the guy who’s going to walk your property, give you the estimate, and most likely run the equipment when the job starts.

Why the Farm Matters
Most excavating companies will dig your trench, install your French drain, or grade your yard the same way every time — same depth, same fall, same fill, regardless of what’s actually under your grass.
We don’t work that way. When you farm the same ground for [INSERT: generations / decades / your number from above], you learn that Ohio clay behaves differently than Ohio loam. You learn which slopes hold water and which ones shed it. You learn that the wrong drainage solution doesn’t just fail, but it can make the problem worse three seasons later.
That knowledge shows up in every job we do, whether it’s siting a French drain, prepping a building pad, or grading a yard so the water actually goes where you want it to.

our story
How a Grain Farm Became an Excavating Company
Ballard’s Acres has been a working grain farm for generations. We grow our own crops, bale our own straw, and have spent decades learning what dirt actually does over a season. That means we deeply understand how it moves, how it drains, how it freezes and thaws, and what it takes to make it behave.
In 2018, Kenny “B” Jenkins took that ground-level knowledge and turned it into a service for everyone else. What started with a few driveway and drainage jobs for neighbors grew into a full excavating operation serving seven Ohio counties, from Canton to Columbiana County and down to the Ohio River.
What I figured out fast was that most people don’t get told the truth about their property. They get sold the big job when a smaller one would do, or a quick patch that fails by spring. I started doing this for other people so they’d have someone who reads the ground first and tells them what it actually needs.
We still treat every job site like it’s our own property, because that’s the only standard we know.
